General Conference Addresses

We are in the middle of General Conference for our Church and it is very helpful for me personally. It helps me figure out what areas I need to work on in my life specifically. I enjoy the revelation I can and do receive at this time. I hope and pray that I can do what I have been taught to do.

Moving on

We had a great weekend seeing Kendra Linton sealed in the Portland Oregon temple yesterday. We decided to go to an endowment session earlier and enjoyed being in the temple. Nick was able to go to the Tiger Invitational Track meet in Battleground yesterday also. He had a great day. His events were in the afternoon so we got to see them all. He had a personal best in the triple jump and ran the 4x400 for the first time ever. The person who normally runs it was not able to so they looked over at Nick. He did pretty well I think. I think it would be wonderful to be able to keep this going. I will try a little harder this time.

I created a Mormon.org profile. I am going to try to link to it. Let's see how well I do.

Long time away

Well, it is more than a year since I have written. So much has happened and I will not be sharing it all. In fact, I won't be sharing much at all.

Matt will be coming home in a couple of months. We are excited to see him. He is having a great time out in the Richmond, VA area. He is currently in Waynesboro.

Too long but still going

Wow, It was last June that I posted to this. That is an extremely long time. I have much to go over but I won't do it all justice.

Since June 2009 much has happened in the family. Most of it is expressed in my journal but I will share a few things with you chronologically.

In August we vacationed for a week at the top of Powder Mountain in Eden, Utah and had just a wonderful time. Most of the kids were able to be there (except Matt of course - Richmond, VA mission). The early morning walks seeing all the moose and deer were very memorable.

In September came our 2nd grandchild, Maddox. Lacey and Jeremy were very happy, as were we.

Christmas time was great. This was our turn for all the kids to be with us and we had a great time over the holidays. We got to talk with Matt on the phone. It had been 7 months since the last time we talked. He seemed happy.

Jan 9th, my dad went into the hospital, Jan 13th he came out and went home. Jan 17th at 6:05 a.m. he passed away. He was 88 years old and he had lived a very good life. We miss him.

My daughter Jenny is having a baby this coming Wednesday, February 24th. We are hoping all goes well.

I continue to be truly blessed and look forward to many more years being with family.

Matt's Mission

Matt made it to Richmond, Virginia and we received a letter to day telling us he is serving in Staunton, VA. We looked it up on the internet and it looked like a great little place. It looks to be in the Shenandoah Valley.

Matt called us from the SLC airport on his way out on Wednesday and we had a nice talk.

He is very excited to serve his Heavenly Father and I can't wait to hear about his companion, the area and people, and the work.

Priesthood Session - General Conference

Last night I had the opportunity to go to the Priesthood Session of our Annual General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

During that great session, I looked to the left of me and I had my 87 year old Father on my right side and my youngest son Nick, who just turned 16 on my left. I realized that I had received the priesthood, or the authority to act in God's name, from my Father many years ago. I also remembered that it was just last Sunday that I ordained Nick to the office of a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood.

In a sense, there was much consolation in those thoughts and actions. The foundation of what I believe is centered around Jesus Christ and that He restored both His Church and His Priesthood on this earth for the benefit of mankind.

As I type this, I am reminded of the 5th Article of Faith produced by Joseph Smith, the Prophet of the Restoration, which states; "We believe that a man must be called of God by prophecy and by the laying on of hands by those who in authority to preach the gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof."

I take this very seriously and it means the world to me to be able to sit between those two last night and listen to the Prophets and Apostles on the earth today to listen to the things the Holy Ghost teaches me I should personally do. I just hope I can put into practice what I feel they are teaching to me and that I can teach my family the same.
